Helping Hands

A Prayer
O God, to those who have hunger, give bread, and to those who have bread, give hunger for justice.
Amen

~ Prayer from Latin America

Our Story

"How it all began..."

Bladen Crisis Assistance was born in the hearts of the pastors of Bladen County.  An overwhelming number of people were coming to the churches of the county asking for food and financial assistance.  While the churches did what they could to assist those in need, there were simply not the resources available to serve the numbers.

The Vision

The leaders envisioned one place in a central location where Bladen County residents and transients who had a need or a short-term crisis could go to get help.  They believed if they combined their efforts and those of other organizations, that it would make a much stronger, unified effort that would be more effective because it would provide:

  • better control

  • better access to services

  • assurance that funds would only go to those in need

  • a screening process to prevent duplication of services

A vision became a reality; and Bladen Crisis Assistance, Inc. was born in 2011. The vision of BCA is to assist our community in four ways:

  • a food pantry

  • a thrift store

  • a program to provide financial assistance and counseling

  • a disaster recovery program
